Gold Rush | Science | Team Discovery Ropes Challenge
TEAM DISCOVERY ROPES CHALLENGE-5th grade and Up Where groups become teams, strangers become friends, and individuals transform.
The Team Discovery Ropes Challenge program is a highly effective physical, mental, and emotional growth experience. It is designed to increase participant's skills in communication, problem-solving, team development, and leadership in a safe and fun atmosphere.
What is Ropes Challenge? Ropes Challenge is a series of facilitated problem-solving tasks or events. Some are group events, others offer individual challenges from the ground-level to more ambitious heights. All require a combination of trust, support, commitment, and teamwork from participants. Trained staff discuss and debrief each activity making correlations between everyday life and the challenge at hand. Once a positive, fun and safe environment has been created, groups move on to more difficult challenges.
Program Highlights Ice-breakers Ice-breakers are fun, sometimes silly activities, designed to quickly improve communication and prepare participants to work together as a team.
Group Initiatives Imaginary scenarios are created that challenge groups to plan, make decisions, experiment, concentrate and communicate. Group initiatives also develop mutual trust and support. The trust formed during this segment creates the foundation needed to perform more difficult challenges.
Low Elements Participants will move beyond ground-level initiatives to elements requiring spotting.
High Elements While securely harnessed to a belay line or pulley system, participants will traverse cables, swing on floating “islands,” or whiz down a zip line-20 to 35 feet above the ground. Team members will act as a safety and support network while staff members will encourage each participant to additionally challenge themselves.
The Team Discovery ropes challenge program is designed for organized groups of 30-40 individuals who are in normal physical condition.*
*An informed consent waiver must be signed for individuals participating in this program. A person in normal physical condition is defined as an individual that does not have a heart condition, major back problems, and/or weight or age restrictions.
